In every game, there are things that are hard to obtain. Dragonvale is no different. It has rare dragons and only patient or extremely lucky people will get them. One of the rare dragons is called the Dragonvale Moon Dragon. If you’re up for the challenge, then we can help you in obtaining this hard to get dragon. Read on for the basic information about the Moon Dragon.
There are a lot of ways in breeding the Dragonvale Moon Dragon. These are the combinations that have been tried and tested by Dragonvale players:
- Have your Fire Dragon mate with a Storm Dragon
- Have your Ice Dragon mate with a Fire Dragon
- Have your Ice Dragon mate with a Storm Dragon
- Have your Sonic Dragon mate with a Storm Dragon
- Have your Crystal Dragon mate with a Blue Fire Dragon (This combination can be interchanged)
- Have your Snow Dragon mate with a Scorch Dragon
- Have your Scorch Dragon mate with a Fire Dragon
- Have your Scorch Dragon mate with a Storm Dragon
- Have your Flower Dragon mate with a Storm Dragon
- Have your Ice Dragon mate with a Scorch Dragon
- Have your Sonic Dragon mate with a Blue Fire Dragon
- Have your Storm Dragon mate with a Mud Dragon
Remember that in trying to breed the Dragonvale Moon Dragon, try all the combinations instead of sticking to one combination. Dragonvale players have claimed that this strategy was helpful in getting a bigger chance of obtaining this rare dragon. The Moon Dragon egg is bluish in color with a moon on its shell. Its incubation time is 2 days. Players used to believe that this dragon can only be obtained if you breed it during the night. This is not true. At any time of the day, players can be successful in breeding the Moon Dragon.
The Dragonvale Moon Dragon has the elements of Cold and Lightning so it should be placed in a Cold habitat or a Lightning habitat. If you have a lot of money, you may purchase a Moon habitat for your Moon Dragon. This habitat costs 100,000 coins and you have to be at level 11 to be able to purchase it.

I bred a blue fire and crystal dragon in that order about 4 or 5 times and finally got my first 24 hour breeding time… Still don’t know if it is a moon or sun dragon because this pair can be used for either.

You probably got a crystal dragon, that’s 24 hours. I was trying to breed the Emerald Dragon, but I got an epic dragon instead! I think its the moon dragon, but I’m not sure.

You got to have a storm that has not been in the fountain of youth, and at lv 10 on the left. On the right with a cold (not been in fountain of youth) at lv 10 and have gotten 5 moon dragons in a row!

I bred crystal and blue fire at midnight and I managed to get the incubation time 1:59:59:30 on my first try.
Bred blue fire and storm at 2:30AM got 48 hrs, wonder if it gonna a rainbow or a moon? Im wishing for a rainbow.

Omg omg omg!!! I got a 48 hour breeding time. Do the recommended matches to get moon.do fire and storm, fire left, storm right. Both dragons have to be level 10 and have your park be in the beginning of level 18 or higher. I don’t know wether it’s sun, moon, or rainbow but it doesn’t matter to me cuz it’s my first rare dragon!!!!!!

They don’t have to be level ten and your park level doesn’t matter. The level doesn’t matter either, both dragons just have to be the same level

Do fire and storm. Both dragons have to be level 10
I used crystal + bluefire to get both moon and sun. If you dont have a bluefire you can get one by breeding a storm + fire. I haven’t been able to get a rainbow yet, but apparently if you have the habitat already the chances are greater.
Oh btw all dragons you are using to breed must be level 10

I don’t know bout you guys but i got a moon from my crystal + bluefire. I also got a sun from the same combi. But the incubation time for my sun was six hours :/ my moon incubation time was 24. So i’m guess that the incubation time is random. Both moon and sun in their descriptions say incubation time is ‘?’.

Just bred 2nd Sun by using Scorch (left) Mountain (right). Still trying for elusive ‘moon and rainbow’ let’s hope the new Leap Year Dragon is slightly more accessible

I’ve tried every combo 16 times, but I never got Moon or Sun. What do I do?
I put a fire and storm in three times and bingo a MOON dragon. I do not think the time matters as long as they are the same level….good luck.

Did fire and storm, both level 10 came up 48 hours so it’s either sun or moon, but I’m pretty sure it’s moon. Only took three tries also got sun by accident breeding for bluefire used storm then fire both level 10.

I have been playing this game since November, I’m level 25, have bred every single dragon (except Bone, cuz I started too late), even bred Rainbows like crazy (and sold even more), and yet I have tried EVERY single combination for both Sun and Moon multiple times in both the breeding cave and EBI, and I have been unsuccessful, UNTIL…I decided to move my Sun and Moon habitats onto the same island as my breeding cave. The VERY FIRST pair I then bred in the cave (my island was occupied) was during the day and it said 48HOURBREEDINGTIME. You can’t imagine how stoked I was. I had just about given up on these two dragons and I even waited until the egg was in the nursery before posting this because I was afraid it was another Rainbow. Guess what? In 47 more hours, I will have a Sun Dragon.
Don’t know if it was coincidence or what, but given my struggles, I choose to think NOT! Shooting for the Moon next, I’ll post my results!!
I took a quick break to breed the new class of metal dragons but last night I tried for a moon dragon. Don’t know for sure, but I bred a blue fire and crystal at night and got a 48 hour wait time. I’m thinking it’s my moon dragon! anyone having trouble out there, I suggest putting the moon/sun/rainbow habitat on the same island as your breeding cave and see what happens with the combos listed above. Finally have moon incubating!! Bred snow and scorch by pure chance and hey presto
bluefire and crystal just wasn’t working for me after countless try’s. So have now completed all dragons (including metals) so I can now just experiment with them all and see what happens…..happy breeding and don’t give up

I am a level 12 and I breed a level 5 fire with a level 7 storm and got a 48 hour breeding time first try and I am a low level so r my dragons plus I used a breeding cave but I don’t know if I got a moon or sun
I never ever thought I’d eventually get a moon dragon egg. The only reason I happened to get it is because I was trying to create a different dragon, and I waited 48 hours and I saw the dragon egg pattern. I instantly knew it was moon, but I wasn’t positively sure, so I went to this website and it is! It’s so much easier to wait 48 hours than waste 2,500 gems on something like a moon dragon egg. The combination I used was a Storm Dragon, and a Plant Dragon. I hope it helps, it sure made my day!
I got a rainbow by level 7 willow and a level 7 storm
I got it breeding in my breeding island and I was so happy I didn’t notice that in my other breeding place I had one there too by accident! I was breeding bloom and magnetic and I got my sun dragon on accident too. So I have 2 Molina and a sun and every other dragon except bone leap year and love and I’m working on getting a rainbow

After trying every possible combination I bread my level 10 Storm (on left) and my level 10 cold (on right) at the epic breeding island and got my first 48 hour breeding time. I don’t know what it will be but I know it will be rare!

Got it first try with Chrome (Level 10) and Scorch (Level 10) in that order. Was trying for a Gold dragon, but got a Moon dragon instead.
I tried fire + storm and got a yellow egg with red flames.
I found out what it was,it was firefly.
