Breeding rare dragons is no easy task in Dragonvale. However, it gives a sense of achievement especially for a Dragonvale fan. If you’re looking for the next rare dragon to breed, try getting the Dragonvale Sun Dragon. Don’t worry, we’ll help you. In this post, we will cover the basics on the Sun Dragon.
Breeding. There are plenty of breeding combinations tried by players. However, please remember that you will not be able to obtain the Dragonvale Sun Dragon on your first try. You need to be patient in getting this rare dragon. To increase your chance of getting the Sun Dragon, you need to have your dragons mate in the Epic Breeding Island. These are the tried and tested combinations:
- Mate a Crystal Dragon with a Blue Fire Dragon
- Mate a Fire Dragon with a Storm Dragon
- Mate a Flower Dragon with a Storm Dragon
- Mate a Storm Dragon with a Blue Fire Dragon
- Mate a Storm Dragon with a Mud Dragon
- Mate a Blue Fire Dragon with a Sonic Dragon
- Mate a Storm Dragon with a Swamp Dragon
- Mate a Firefly Dragon with a Cold Dragon
- Mate a Blue Fire Dragon with a Snow Dragon
- Mate a Blue Fire Dragon with a Storm Dragon
- Mate a Scorch Dragon with a Storm Dragon
- Mate a Firefly Dragon with an Ice Dragon
How would you know if you’ve obtained the Dragonvale Sun Dragon? Simply look at the incubation time. If it has a 48-hour incubation time, then you have obtained a Sun Dragon. You also need to look at its egg. If the egg has a sun on its shell, then you will soon be having the Sun Dragon.

Cost. The Dragonvale Sun Dragon is a rare dragon. That’s why it’s incredibly expensive. You can purchase it from the market for 2,000 gems. You will gain 2,000,000 coins by selling this dragon.

you can not breed a lightning dragon with a water dragon. They are opposites

Finally!!!! Got my Sun Dragon!! With blue fire and storm. And, I’ve been noticing that the TIME of day is a major factor in the breeding outcome! I haven’t gone so far as to start charting it, but it seems that, for instance, the blue fire and crystal combo will produce a certain offspring at a given time each day. I’m thinking that all the combinations do a rotation, and that the breeding game is not as random as everyone is led to believe. ??? Thoughts?

Ive gotten 2 moon & my sun dragon with sonic & storm. I seen it mentioned on one sight only. It works! Plus the times it does not work you at least get a sonic (worth 1 million coins).
What is the Epic Breeding Island?
Its an island that costs 125 gems that will let you breed four dragons (two in the breeding cave, and two on the island). The island also gives you a better chance of getting rare dragons (sun, rainbow, moon, and panlong).
And for some resano o got 4 in a week but only sun dragOns nO rainbow or moon

100% best way to get a sun dragon! Blue fire and sonic. Any time through out the day as long as you can see the sun. Ive done it all times through out the day. Ive got 6 sun dragons with this combo. Surprisingly i bred lightning and cold trying to get the storm dragon but got sun on the first try!!
I also got a sun dragon on first attempt at breeding Storm Dragon, and 2nd attempt and 3rd attempt! Now got three of the things!
How do breed blue fire
I got 4 sun dragons trying to get ruby dragon, then another 2 trying to get moon dragon. I didn’t need that many!

I mated fire(left) and storm(right) and got a 48 hour mating time. Not sure if it means anything, but I’m not sure. Any ideas what it may mean?

I tried crystal+blazing and got a 24h wait.
i got three suns by breeding bluefire and crystal bc my mom said she got a rainbow by breeding that it is very common to get a moon i also got a sun by breeding lightning and fog trying to get a plasma hope this helps
I did lv10 fire on the left and lv10 storm on the right and got it first try
got it on first try with level 10 crystal and blue fire level 10 though i was trying to get a rainbow dragon.
i used storm and poison i was randomly breeding LOL!!!!!!!!

Just got 48 hours by breeding bluefire and crystal both level 10 regular breeding cave. I have been wanting to get a rainbow and a sun. I have another 48 hours going on on the Epic breeding island. I feel that one is likely a rainbow. If the time does not matter, I hope this one is a Sun. I already got moon twice. It seems that at least for me, all the rare dragons are bred at night time. Will report back.
I guess the time of the day when breeding take place does matter. I did the above combination at night. I ended up with a rainbow.
Just tried to get the sun dragon with the firefly (left) and cold (right) on the epic breeding island. I just checked the incubation time and it is a full two days (48 hours) so it looks like I will have a sun dragon arriving on my first try! I’m excited! thank you for the info!
Why can’t I see blue fire dragon or frostfire dragon anymore on the egg shop on dragon vale? Did the gift dragon take their place???
I have been trying for amethyst by breeding sonic and hail repeatedly.
After 20 try’s I got a sun dragon then 2 try’s later another sun dragon. Now I have a 39 hour incubation time.
