I tried all the combos and never got the keap year dragon but then I tried to breed love (left) and panlong (right) and got a leap year dragon on my first try I now have 6 leap year dragons and the level of the love / panlong dragons so far never matters!!!!

Did it and got it my third try! OMG wasted 32 gems because I had two Rainbow dragons breeding on the EBI and then got 8 hours first, 1 hour second, and 14.5 hours my third try! Thank the Gods!!

I tried breeding the love dragon (left) and panlong dragon (right) about ten times. None of the time worked. I used all of my gems to speed up the process. So now I have no gems and no Leap Year Dragon.
I bred lava and swamp and got leap frog my first time. I do not have a panlong yet.

Dragonvale states it is a bit of Rainbow and over the moon I breed my first choices of each dragon and got a Leap Year Dragon first time Seaweed and Scorch both Level 10′s. So if you bread you Rainbow and Moon select your Dragon 1 choice of each. Hope this helps

It seems like the breeding island is the most effective way of getting a leap year dragon. I tried flower and storm several times with breeding cave unsuccessfully. Then I get the breeding island and put my floqer and stor dragon there, and get it on the first try.
I got it on the first try with Firefly (left, level 10) and Ice (right, level 10) on the breeding island.
I got the leap year dragon second try with mud (left) and storm (right) , then I tried it agin and got rainbow
I have been trying to get a rainbow dragon with Seaweed (level 13) and Firefly (level 13 ) for about a month. While trying today I got a 14.5 hour breeding time and had to look up what it was. I had not heard of the new leap year dragon. This was on thebreeding island. Yeah–finally have something to put in my rainbow habitat. Still want the rainbow though.

14h and 30 min + 14h 30min – 29 hours. She bred Crystal and seaweed together. She was trying to get rainbow but got even luckier. The dragon will be gone on March 1st so I suggest you use your gems, well, unless you want to wait another 4 years. I don’t know about you either, but my mom has almost 100 gems, and didn’t buy a single one, and the only friend that she has on her list is meee!! (of course) I also had around 50 but I started using it on speeding up the stupid dragons that I got so I could keep trying for Leap Year Dragon.

man I spent over 200 gems, and after breeding dragon fly and storm 1 million times and failing, I finally obtained one by breeding flower and storm on my first try. It was so worth all the gems though, the leap year dragon looks awesome!

This dragon is bs. I tried every combo listed on this site including panlong and reindeer and I have yet to get a leap year. His is my list of failed results. Flower, flower, poisen, poisen, crystal, crystal, crystal, moss, tree, mud, mud, iceberg, iceberg, swamp, seaweed, seaweed, lava, lava, moon, firefly, firefly, fog, fog. Sigh I purchased the $10 amount of gems and it was all wasted. Kinda pissed off considering we were given 3 days to try breeding this and everyone I know got this on the first or 2nd try and here I am on my 25th. >.> not at all happy ATM.

The same thing happened to me. I was trying desperately to breed leap year, tried storm and firefly, got moon dragon instead. What bad timing to get that dragon. Had to use all gems to move egg to incubator, but managed to get leap year with flower and storm on breeding island. What a day!

Got it after three tries with Mud and Scorch, both level 8. The first two attempts gave me three hour scorchs, so it wasnt so bad.

Got it on the forth try for seaweed(left lvl14) and firefly(right lvl14) on EBI, in normal cave tried bluefire and crystal, and lava and mud but was not successful

I noticed, that dragons with level 11-15 make rarer hybrids than dragons with level 10 or lower. Maybe this can help. Good Luck!

OMG, ive been trying to breed a rainbow dragon forever, read tons online and tried lots of combos, I’m level 18, have two rainbow habitats, and all my dragons are level 10…… This morning tried seaweed x firefly and got 14.5 hr incubation. Must be the leap year dragon, hurried it and got gold egg- nice, but *still* can’t get that rainbow!
I did lava as 1 and fog as 2 and I got the leap year dragon that way
FINALLY just got mine. Probably my 13th try. Did lots of seaweed + fireflies, a few storm and poisons, and finally tried Lava and Storm (both lvl 9). I would definitely stick to breeding options that are four different elements and have opposite elements so that there are fewer possible eggs. And of course eggs with short breeding times so you aren’t using up all your gems!
Damn! Tempted to buy gems and end up in buying EBI cause people say it has more chances to get it. Tried mud scorch speed up got mud, flower storm speed up got flower, lava fog finally!! Got 14.5 incubation time!! Yeayh ~^.^~
I try to breed another rainbow with lava and seewead. In i saw 14 1/2 hours. I was pissed off. XD. But then i saw the leap dragon came out. I speed up the process and got it on my first try. Then i try with another one with panlog and love but didn’t work. So guys! Keep trying. Try all the combinations. Don’t give up

i bred panlong on left and love on right 4 times and didnt get leap year so for the 5th time i switched places and put love on left and panlong on right and got one….. took 5 tries total

I have 5 leap year dragons I bred the first 2 with seaweed and firefly it takes a lot of tries but if you have a lot of gems you can get it then bread the 2 leap year dragons together and they make another leap year dragon

Finally got mine with a blue fire on left and crystal on right. Had tried seaweed and firefly and other combos at least a dozen times. Still had to try 3 or 4 times with blue fire and crystal though.

i can’t get the dragon. i practically used all my gems that ive been saving up (for an ebi) just to speed up the incubation times. now i don’t have anymore gems and im stuck with super long 14hour incubation times meaning i won’t be able to get a leap year, this sucks so bad and im soooo frusturated!

lol no i got two mountain dragons.. but i’m soooo glad that they didn’t take the leap year dragon off right away on march 1st because i finally got it!!! ah im sooo excited. i just hope it was worth it because i don’t have anymore gems to use on a st. patricks day dragon (if they have one) lol.

FINALLY. I got it with Love & Panlong. Took about 10 tries, and many gems to hatch / breed the wrong ones…but patience is a virtue, and good things come to those who wait. Now to continue trying for the Rainbow.

I just got my leap yr dragon with seaweed and firefly on fourth try!!! First breed 30mins > 3 hrs > 1 Hrs! Used two gems to boost time but the breeding combo is totally worth it as breeding time is short! Now I have my leap year dragon in time

I don’t think it’s fair that the breeding time for the Leap Year Dragon is soooo short. I know several people who have tried every combination that has been published and they still haven’t gotten one. It should be available for at least two weeks not just three or four days.

I almost gave up today trying to get a leap year dragon but got 14:30 minutes surprise surprise!
It took me many tries and many gems. I got mine using panlong and cold, in that order. I have been trying to get sun dragons for three weeks prior, and while trying for leap year ended up getting two suns. So keep trying. It doesn’t seem to matter with levels or order. My mom got it first try breeding love and panlong, and that was in normal breeding cave, and they were both level 10. Hope this helps.
I have had success 3 out 4 times with Seaweed (lvl10 – left) and scorch (lvl 10 – right); I have 2 dragons now and 1 breeding. Also it seems tha it will end on March 1st at midnight rather than last night
Tried love and panlong twice, no luck; crystal and blue fire is NOT the best combination, u usually get 24 crytsal;

I got mine! First one I got was with the blue fire and sonic. I used about 300 gems ending breedings and incubations early to get it. Tried several combos and that one was the sweet spot! I tried the Flower and Storm combo about 10 minutes ago and got my 2nd one. So for the ones that don’t have a Blue Fire there’s an option.
Now I just need to manage to get another SUN!

Mud + Blazing got it for me. March 1st at 4PM in California. Both dragons were level 10. I am at level 19 in the game. I tried many combinations before I got this. Even tried mud+blazing before this successful attempt (with no prior luck until now).

I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING HUGE any dragon that is not on the market any more can be bred at any time! You just have to have two of that dragon, breed them. And then POW you’ll have that dragon! Now matter if it’s in the market just get two while there out. And do the above!

I checked how long it take to breed the leap year dragon and it said 14.5 and I started thinking that it was the rainbow dragon but when I got the egg I was a little surprised when I ended up getting the solar eclipse dragon.

I used the love dragon and panlog dragon in my epic breeding sanctuary and got 39 hours ( epic breeding island decreases time by 20% so if it was 48 it changes to 39) so I started thinking it was the rainbow dragon but when when i got the egg I was surprised that I ended up getting the solar eclipse dragon.

After many attempts to get this dragon, i almost wanted to give up. But then it come across my mind to check the forum on how to breed this dragon. Then, the moment after reading this article, i tried breeding it with Love and Panlong. It really worked and i got Leap Year Dragon on my 1st tries in the EBI!. Thanx a lot guys

I finally got it with blue fire and crystal took me 11 gems to speed up and stuff but it was worth it!!!!!!

The bring em back thing is being extended so you can get the dragons even after Jan. 2nd
After many tries I still can’t get it but I have the equinox, gold,silver,rainbow,seasonal,saphire ,peridot, opal, solar eclipse,sun, and moon dragons! P.s. you can get solar, lunar , and equinox if you have The sun
Or moon dragons(they are not compatible in breeding) and one of the three dragons I mentioned

Well, like,its optional what, like combination you wanna choose but most of them work. I did Sandstorm Dragon with, like, um, oh yeah, my Cold Dragon and I got a Rainbow Dragon. Then I ,like, did it again and I ,like, got a Leap Year Dragon, so , like, yeah my combination, like, works too. BTW some people spelt breed wrong. They , like, spelt it bread , like, the stuff you eat. DUH!!!! Some people these days are , like, soooooooo dumb. Unlike moi. Thats French for me BTW. I just wanted to let you know that , like, I am level 49. Woohoo go moi! And I’ve only been playing for , like, 2 weeks! BTW there is A LOT of , like, comments on this ,like , list. I currently have 2 leap year dragons. I got them both my accident. The first I got whilst attempting to breed a panlong dragon with level 10 blazing and level 10 mud. The second I got whilst trying to breed garnet with smoke and obsidian both level 10. I got them both in the breeding cave
I got it with chrome and scorch- both lvl 10- 2 times in a row
Hi, for some reasons I got leap year with level ten panlong(not been in fountain of youth)and level ten gift(HAS been in fountain of youth) did it 7 more times, 6 leap year dragons. I have 18 leap year dragons now!!! Add me on Game Center and see my park for proof! Account: GirlDJ676
i bred my leap year dragon by accident on the first try with evergreen lv8 and sakura lv9 i also have a blue moon dragon i was extremely lucky on accident i got it with evergreen lv9 and storm lv 9. lastly i got a seasonal usoing sky lv 8 and flower lv 10
