Yes. There is a new gemstone dragon every month. Like May was the Emerald, June was the Pearl, and July is the Ruby. It is said that they will come back every year but I don’t know and I hope so.

Its actually better to keep your gemstone dragons at level nine because 4 gems in a month is more than every week bbecause there are 3 weeks in a month and 4 in a month is smarter
seriously what month has only 3 weeks in it, are you for real? the shortest month being feb with 28 days which is exactly 4 weeks, anyway the more gem dragons you have in a habitat just makes it one gem every 3.5 days if there are 2 dragons, one gem every 2.3 days with 3 dragons

This game only allows you to breed the dragon u want only a FRACTION of the time. It makes u want to delete it. My friends ran into the same problem with the Ruby dragon. They have deleted this game now I can’t get any jewels and I still can’t get the ruby dragon.

How did u get it
I’ve been breeding Blazing and Crystal in both the EBI and the regular breeding cave. (2 pairs, first pair is both lvl 15, 2nd is both lvl 11), my first 2 were 3 hours so either Scorch or Firefly, 3rd (in EBI) was 5 something hours (both my breeding caves are upgraded so the times become super wonky) and 4th (in normal cave) is 20 hours. Is 20 hours the ruby one then? I don’t recall a 20 hour dragon.
So yeah, I went through the whole dragon list (pearl is still listed for me, I do not have ruby on there yet), and the only dragon whose breeding time is 20 hours is Copper, which obviously isn’t possible to get with Blazing + Crystal since it needs a metal element. I’m guessing I got a ruby
The ruby is now listed and it says it’s 31 hours. So what on earth did I get for 20? It better nit be copper, why the heck should I get copper with a crystal+blazing? What a waste of 20 hours it will be…

20 hours is 24 hours minus 20%, so you got a crystal. i havent got ruby on my eggs screen yet it still says pearl, but have been trying blazing and crystal, got a firework, a crystal and aniother flippin sun dragon
20 hr is crystal on upgraded ebi.
He couldn’t have gotten it; pearl is still in the marketplace. When ruby is released it will replace pearl. So just keep checking your market to know when to try to start breeding.

I’ve only just got onto dragonvale and it is out! I read all the comments and most people are saying blazing and crystal, so I’m going to try it out. People we’ve got a whole month as well so you don’t have to waste all your gems in getting it on the first day!

I bred chrome and lava and got 24hrs first shot, so hopefully it’s the Ruby dragon!
If its in the ordinary breeding cave / island using chrome and lava it will be a forge or a crystal, sorry to disappoint. So far I’ve only got firework, quake and forge from chrome and scorch, blazing and crystal combos. Keep trying!
Or not..just realized it’s 31hrs incubating time. Oh well.

Another possible combination is Swamp/Crystal.
Just remember that not all combinations are going to work for everybody, nor are they going to work all the time. I got one with Chrome/Scorch on the island, but it didn’t work in the cave. I’ve read that people are having better luck on the island with this one. I’ve also tried all the combinations listed so far, and I’ve only gotten the one. Like all the dragons, patience is required. Besides, it’s only the first day – you’ve got 30 more days to get it.
I used level 10 Chrome Dragon & level 10 scorch dragon,ended up with a lot of Firewrk dragons,Forge dragons but out of that combo 2 Ruby dragons!!

Try Chrome (right) + Scorch (left). I tried it and I think that it works each time, (if not then you would get firework. Maybe try it after the 20th.)
I figured out that mud and blazing combination works to breed the fourth of July dragon.

You would have to delete them from Game Center. If they don’t give gems then you just dont give them any, and you can still get party hats from them (they don’t control that).
How do you get your dragon pass level 19?
Same as getting them past 10 or 15, you have to lvl 50 of that shrine type up.

You have to buy the appropriate shrine. Once you have lvled 50 dragons to lvl 10 you can take them to 15. Then level those 50 dragons to 15 and you can take them to 20!!

24.8hrs = time it takes for the egg to hatch

In an attempt to breed the Ruby Dragon(Chrome lv.10 and Scorch lv.10 NBC), I ended up with a Fireworks Dragon. The next try I got 24hrs, I guess it’s Crystal, but there is no ground element in there. Interesting. I can’t wait to get this dragon!!!
It’s a Forge (fire and metal), not Crystal. Both dragons had 24 hours. I had few of those while breeding Chrome and Scotch.

Try the epic breeding island I havnt got the dragon yet but I have heard alotof people were successful using lv10 chrome one the left and lv10 scorch on the right on the epic breeding island if you don’t have that save up for it or keep using the enchanted breeding cave I think that is better

Any combination with 4 diferent ellements can bring you a rainbow,I was trying chrome and scorch for a ruby and got a rainbow instead
You could try firefly and seaweed,many people say they got it with this combination…good luck

Can you breed only ONE of each Gemstone dragon? Got my Ruby dragon early this month, wondering if I’m wasting breeding time now trying for a SECOND Ruby dragon… Anyone get two of the Emerald or Pearl dragons in May or June?
I got six pearls even turned one into a statue I’ve tried about 15+ times with each combo and still no luck but about 50 fireworks dragons patience and persistence pays off
Chrome & scorch. Got it after about a dozen tries. 31hrs
I got my Ruby after breeding chrome & scorch (both level 10 dragons) in the regular breeding cave. I have been trying that combination repeatedly and the blazing/crystal on the epic breeding island. you have to have patient though, I have been breeding for about 4 days over & over and kept getting Firework Dragons. Once you see the 31 hour time, you have it.
Now onto trying to get the new pollen dragon & still working on the current dragon.
If someone gifts me 125gems I’ll pay you back ASAP. Please I really want the epic breeding island.
I tried about ten times and still no ruby with chrome + scorch combo. I’m thinking about using evergreen combo… Chrome and scorch combo first get me rainbow and couple of firework and one brass dragon

I heard that it is Chrome (left) + Scorch (right) to get the ruby. I tried that and I got a firework one.

Skullkandi10, you have to unlock the Shrines…need to have 50 of level 10 of each dragon types : eg….you need to have level 10 of Fire or the hybrid to unlock the Fire Shrine.
If u mean the crown then your dragon has to be at least level 10, I’m by sure at which level though but it has to be at least 10.
Chrome and scorch work but it’s kind of hard my freind has a bunch he’s got like four gem dragons his ne is millers cougars I’ve only been playing this for about to months and I’m a level 23 freind me if you want

Just want to let u guys know it is very very hard to breed this ruby dragon. Way harder than it was to breed emerald or pearl. Ive only gotten it once and that was on my 35th try. Its hard to get it.

A word of advice to those Dragonvale wizards: The game has to be rewarding, otherwise you get sick of breeding. I have stuck with the game till level 33, but am now on the verge of abandoning the game all together after having bred and bred and bred for both the Pearl and Ruby dragons. It shouldn’t be easier to obtain a Rainbow dragon than a gem dragon, because they aren’t here for a limited time, but breeding for the Ruby with Chrome and Scorch has given med three Rainbows (not to mention all the other non-desired dragons) and it’s not worth the wait!
I got a ruby with chrome 7 and scorch 9 on the normal breeding cave the first try. I’m lucky

I got it using a level 10 chrome dragon on the left and level 10 scorch dragon on the right and got th ruby dragon now level 10 in my gemstone island. It gives me 1 gem per week!
Ugh i have been trying to get a ruby dragon since it came out and i only got it once. That was with blazing right and crystal left. I have tried and tried amd tried so hard to get another but no luck. I have tried the chrome and Scorch so many times. I guess i have bad luck on this one because i got emerald and pearl pretty quickly. Oh well back to the breeding cave!

Why do you make dragons that you can only breed for one month and their really hard to breed? Some people can’t play the game 24/7. I’m lucky to be able to play for 30 minutes a day. I don’t think it’s far that they are so expensive to buy also. Can’t you make the breeding period longer or make them easier to breed or even cheaper????? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried all the combinations listed since the first of July in an effort to breed this dragon. I am despairing that I only get the firework dragon, which although lovely, it is not the ruby dragon. I have read all these comments, and have tried all the tricks. I would really like the ruby dragon! Please help?
I agree Diane. I’ve played to level 32 and am getting tired of how hard it is to get these dragons. I’ve tried 14 times for the Ruby and all I get is Fireworks, Brass and now Copper. It shouldn’t be so hard to get these dragons. I don’t care how long it takes to breed and incubate if I know I have something to wait on. But to constantly get the same over and over is frustrating!

So I have been breeding chrome (left lv 10) and scorch (right lv 10) since it came out. I raised scorch to level 11 and got him on the 4th try.. Maybe one of the dragons has to over over level 10? All I know is I’m pumped I finally got it – now I have like 30 firework dragons ugh
Oh yea and I forgot to mention, I got a gold dragon with the same combo before I got the ruby dragon – I figured that would be more rare? Who knows

ok first of all metal is a required element to breed the ruby dragon so all the above combinations are wrong except for chrome and scorch. Blazing and crystal doesn’t work neither does chrome and lava/fire.

1. Chrome and scorch is ure best choice.
2. Buy the gemstone island to increase ure chances
3. DO NOT BUY THE GOLD HABITAT UNTIL U GET A RUBY! Ure chances will drop if u do!
4. Have patience! I to it on my 6 try
5. Gold has the same combo so be careful about your habitats

What I don’t get is they say Chrome and Scorch level 10 is the best combination. I have one Chrome dragaon at level 10 and all my Scorch dragons are 11 and higher. Does this mean I need to breed a Scorch just so I can make it a level 10? I thought we wanted higher level dragons! I’m a little confused.

I have played this game for over a year and I love it! But really?! 29 days is a really long time, and it makes me demotivated to play when I know that the dragon never gonna come…… It’s cool that it’s rare and difficult to get a hold on, but not cool when it’s impossible… And It’s unfair if I have to use real money to get it…… Please give me a Ruby dragon!!
